90210

As you might have guessed by the title of this post, Mere and I went to Hollywood today and took an open bus tour of the celebrity homes (including Beverly Hills... 90210)

We had a little bit of time before our tour, so we walked along Hollywood Blvd. I found Marlo Thomas' star!! (This is my tribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital)

Mere in front of our bus :)

Harry Potter Crew!! Look how cute Emma's shoes look!

Eleanor Powell (with her tap shoes!)
Little Shirley Temple!!
Hugh Jackman... Momma, that's for you!

Frank Sinatra!! We have the same size feet!!
And last, but CERTAINLY not least... my boyfriend, Cary Grant!!

As materialistic as it sounds... I want to be rich and live in Beverly Hills... preferably on a street with palm trees. P.s. We learned that each street is assigned a certain tree to line the road. OMG, beautiful.
Hope your weekend has been great!! -E

Weekend with the Bestie: Day 1

Today was Day 1 of my weekend with the Bestie! We started the day with a bagel at Noah's and the new Harry Potter movie

then boogied on over to In-N-Out... Mere had never been before.

We then jetted to the mall for a bit. Okay, story time, hopefully you will find it funny as well. I am driving a loaner car while Betty is at the doctor (...again...) and the car is a bit of a mess. Someone did not take care of it as if it was their own. Bad news bears. We had to name the poor guy because, well, he just deserved a name. For some reason, Bruno came to mind. Then as we were searching for a parking place, we saw this license plate.

An exact twin to the car I'm driving is crushing on Bruno.
After some quality time at the mall, we drove to Anaheim to go to California Adventure. We were pretty excited to be there... clearly :)

We went hang gliding... virtually of course

 Rode California Screamin'

and the Tower of Terror!!!!

We also took a pic to show we survived. Mere looks cute; I look a bit frazzled.

Spending the day in Hollywood and Beverly Hills tomorrow :) -E

Getting In-n-Out

Today was another great day at 3Ball :)
I worked on a show that is in development; it's a docu-reality show about first pregnancies. I worked with a different group of casting directors today and set up at a different station...

I spent some time researching institutions that offered parenting classes... hopefully a location for us to find the kind of people we need to cast. We then went out to grab lunch as a group. Raleigh Studios was hosting an outdoor extravaganza and In-N-Out Burger was giving away free double-doubles.

I've never tried In-N-Out (shocking, I know) but I'm not a big hamburger person. However, all that changed today. This was the perfect opportunity to try the burger for FREE... and OMG it was so yummy!!!! Loving life in California!!
Hope you've had a wonderful Wednesday!! -E

Oh what a day...

Today was a great day at my HOBY job. We went to the Hyatt Regency for a meeting about an upcoming event that Solange is planning. We met with an event person from the hotel out on the patio and it was simply gorgeous. I was then told that an episode of Burn Notice was filmed in the cabanas. (I plan on going through the seasons of BN on my iTunes to try and find the scene... dork? yes! obsessive? absolutely!)

After we left the Hyatt, we went to the Beverly Hills Hotel, the location for the HOBY gala in 2010. The Crystal Ballroom is beyond gorgeous; it's going to be a great event. We sat in the lobby for a bit and discussed the cost of a room, the gorgeous hotel, and celebrities that stay at the BHH. As we walked out the door (having seen absolutely zero famous folks), I passed through a small group of twenty-somethings and said "Excuse me."
Solange: "Well, now you've seen a celebrity."
Me: "I'm sorry, what?! Who in that group was famous?"
Solange: "Wait, you didn't see Lionel Richie?"
 Me: "WHAT?! NO!!!!"
I don't consider myself a Celebrity Seeker, but I literally walked right past the man who sings my current ringtone!!
And I didn't even SEE him!!! Oh boo.
Oh well, how was YOUR day?? LOL -E

I feel like the Biggest Loser!!

I apologize for my semi-misleading title... I actually feel like a huge winner, but I will explain the title...
My brother is friends with the producer of The Biggest Loser and
The Fashion Show, to only name a few of the shows he produces.
His company is

and my brother hooked me up BIG TIME!
I interviewed last Thursday for an intern position in the casting department at 3Ball... and I got it!!! I will continue my internship at HOBY on Tuesday/Thursday and work at 3Ball on Mon/Wed/Fri.
I started today and it was great!! When I got to the office at 10, I set up my computer at my station

and watched the reels of the finalists that were considered for The Biggest Loser Season 8 (currently filming). The stories pulled at my heart strings, and I was so excited to find out that a few of my favorites made it to the show!! I can't wait to watch this season!!
After about an hour of watching the YES reels, I was assigned the job of going through the NO boxes and watching the DVDs to see if any "gems" had been passed over.

I wondered how casting directors knew who to put through to the next round of consideration, but after watching a couple of bad audition tapes, you just know.

After listening to people talk about their struggle with diet and exercise for 6 hours, I felt the motivation to hit the gym hard. I also cooked salmon and veggies for dinner. YUM-O!!

I really enjoy working with the folks at 3ball. Already making friends :) I hope your week is off to a great start!! -E

Back from Vegas :)

Wait, I thought I was in Vegas this weekend... what's with the eiffel tower? LOL. Snapped this outside of the "Paris" hotel on the strip.
But it looks pretty convincing right?
It was so cool to see the Bellagio!! So beautiful!!

The Chihuly glass ceiling was amazing!

Oh man, the conservatory was outstanding at the Bellagio. I'm dying to have a room like this at my house!!

My first time gambling... and my first time getting carded since turning 21!! Thanks Papas and brother for the $60 to gamble and subsequently lose :(
________

Oh and my Going Green update... I got two reuseable grocery bags today... not the cutest ones ever but I'm happy :)

I hope your weekend was an enjoyable one!! -E

Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas!!

Whew, it's been a long day and it's only 8:47 AM!! I woke up at 4:15 to get ready to fly out to Vegas for the weekend. It's a short 1 hour flight from LA, and I'm here!!!
Currently, I'm taking advantage of the free wi-fi in the airport while I wait for Momma and Papas to get here (their flight was a tad bit, and by a tad I mean 4 hours, longer than mine). The flight was a productive one for me :) I finished Madeleine Wickam's "The Wedding Girl" and started Beth Harbison's new book "Hope in a Jar."

The moment I stepped off the plane I heard a sound that I can not describe and it is currently ringing in my ears... The sound of the slot machine. Now, I realize that gambling is big in Sin City (understatement of the year, perhaps?) but I had no idea it would be in the airport.

I also had no idea that I would be able to see all of the major hotels from the terminal. I am looking at the MGM Grand, New York New York, Tropicana, and I'm pretty sure I could see the Bellagio before this plane pulled up at A15... the nerve...
ANYWAY, Have a great weekend!! -E

A new online obsession...

Thanks to B over at The Nabors Baby for her post about Goodreads. I love to read, and this site allows you to keep a virtual bookshelf. So cool right?! The shelves are divided into three categories: Read, Currently Reading, and To Read. My "To Read" list is growing...
Here are the covers of some of the books that I've read (at least the ones I can remember). I need to update the list when I get home and can look at the books on my actual shelves.

I'm a sucker for a cute cover!
(in case you couldn't tell by the above pictures)
What are some of your favorite books? -E

Weekend with Momma in California

I feel like there is a dark cloud over my head today. Momma leaves to head back to NC and I'm left alone in Cali :( Now, I realize this may sound crazy to some people. I'm in Los Angeles, what could be bad about that? Well, last weekend when Papas visited, it was only for about 24 hours and I had to work for 8 of those hours and at least another 8 were spent sleeping. This weekend, I had to work Friday night while Momma was here. And she is catching an earlier flight back because I have to work today. Sad Sunday.
We had a great time together though while she was here. We spent the day yesterday at the beach and soaked up the sun.

There was the cutest little boy at the beach... and yes, I became his personal paparazzi and snapped this adorable pic of him hanging on his daddy.

After we left the beach, we cleaned up and went to The Counter for a late lunch/early dinner.

Momma got a hamburger with onions and pineapple, and I got grilled chicken with pineapple, onions, and craisins. Sooo yummy. Oh, and the best part was the sweet potato fries!!! YUM-O!!

I hope you had a happy 4th of July!! It'll be a four day work week for me, then I fly to Vegas on Friday. Woohoo :) -E

HURRY HURRY!! FlapperDoodle Sale!!!

Hey Guys!
Kate is holding a BOGO sale on her FlapperDoodle illustrations!! And there's no limit to how many you can buy. So, if you missed out on my giveaway (sorry about that), you can order one print and get one free!! Woo hoo!! Check it out here!!

Home Alone!!

With my title, you may picture me with my hands on my face screaming a la Macaulay Culkin...

... Rest assured, this is not the case.

Brother left today for a week on the East Coast, so it's just me and May-May in the house. We were watching Chopped on The Food Network today, and the paparazzi showed up!
(aka, PhotoBooth on my MacBook Pro)

I have been sending pictures of May to my sis-in-law and the kiddos so they know that we miss them while they are gone.

But, don't cry for me Argentina... Momma will be here tomorrow.
I can't... even... WAIT!!!! It's going to be a great girls weekend!
Do you have fun plans for the holiday?
I'm thinking a picnic on the beach :) -E

Another Etsy find...

Maaaaadre... I found the perfect surprise for you!!
Momma and I are very similar.
However, I get my organizational obsessions from Papas.
As we walk into the grocery store, Momma pulls out the wad of coupons. I do not use the word "wad" casually here. There is no order what-so-ever to the coupon madness. We walk all over the grocery store because "Oh! Here's one for toilet paper," but we've already passed that aisle. "Oh, and here's one for Activia... And one for Pantene. Do you need any shampoo for your bathroom?" I love this woman, but it makes me crazy. This conversation always takes place, "Momma, please let me organize your coupons! It will take no time, and you'll never have to worry about a coupon expiring or losing one while walking around the grocery store." "E, that is just not who I am!!" Gotta love her. I still don't think this is her style, but maybe!! Momma, how about shopping in style AND keeping your coupons organized with this cute coupon organizer?!

For the rest of you readers, check out the Etsy shop for cute grocery totes, in addition to the coupon organizers.
I hate to admit that I warm up to "trendy ideas" after I get hit over the head by them... over and over again... but it's true. After years of Momma telling me to walk the extra five feet to put my soda can in the recycling bin... rather than the trash... I now make the extra effort to recycle. My next attempt to go greener (let's face it, I drive an SUV. I'll never be green) is to buy reusable grocery bags and use them rather than plastic bags. Trader Joes has some cute ones, so we'll see :)
Momma will arrive in LA tomorrow... Woo hoo!! I'm a lucky girl... Papas visited last weekend and Momma this weekend :)
Have a wonderful Wednesday!!-E
