I got a text from Mommacita this weekend with the following picture attached...
... her 60 hour work week. Her students have finals next week and it's crunch time for this tutor!
In honor of her crazy week, I re-wrote "Twas the Night Before Christmas!"
Enjoy! xoxo, E
"The Night Before Finals"
‘Twas the night before finals, and all through the house
the students were studying, as quiet as a mouse;
The calculators were placed by their math books with care,
knowing that Mrs. Newton soon would be there;
The pencils were sharpened with number two lead,
while visions of the quadratic formula danced in their heads;
Students in their sweatshirts, and Mrs. Newton in her cap,
there certainly was no time for a long winter’s nap,
When in from the garage there arose such a clatter,
Mrs. Newton sprang from the table to see what was the matter.
When what to her wondering eyes should appear,
but a car with the “CCS” sticker visible and clear.
More rapid than eagles, they unloaded and came,
and she whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
“Now, Mitchell! now, Lauren! now, Polly and Claire!
On, Jenna! On, Julie! On, Becca and Blair!
I’ll prepare you with confidence to walk down the hall!
now dash away! dash away! dash away all!”
So up Brackenbury and down Sardis they flew,
with a mind full of formulas, they knew just what to do.
With a wink of her eye and a pat on their head,
Mrs. Newton told her students they had nothing to dread;
They finished their exam and gave a good whistle
and away they all flew to Christmas break like a missile;
And Mrs. Newton exclaimed, as she turned off the lights,
“happy finals to all, and to all a good-night.”
