Homecoming 2009 Window Paintings

Well, the end of the first Homecoming work-week is done!! I am so lucky to work with a great group of Homecoming chairs.

We have 9 organizations participating in the Homecoming Competition. The window paintings were due today at 5:00pm. I am astounded by the talent of our students!! I just have to share them with you all!

The theme for Homecoming this year is "The Tribute." Each organization has the opportunity to create their own theme (for their window, banner, standing float, and Lip Sync) that enhances the overall theme.

Happy Hall-o-boy...

Are you a Halloween person? I'm not really.
I love anything pumpkin, and I love to carve pumpkins, but I don't get into dressing up for the occasion anymore.

However, I do love these Halloween cupcakes from Cupcake Takes the Cake...

Retail Therapy + Day with Friends = STUPENDOUS Saturday!

Yesterday was a perfectly, perfect way to end a not-so-hot week. Although it was only a 3-day school week, the week was not an easy one.

I started the day with lunch with Marcus. After a yummy sandwich, we were off to the mall to do some retail therapy. First stop was J. Crew. Luckily, M still works at the crew, which allowed me to get this coat (in black) for 60% off! LOVE it!
Next, we went to Banana and Gap and did some more damage...

I got this in Purple

This is much cuter in person. Marcus said it'd be perfect to wear to an OSU game... Now all he has to do is take me to a game!!
(hint, hint M!)

I'm hoping to get these when my next paycheck comes through. (Shhh... Momma thinks I'm going to put all my paychecks in savings... hehe, kidding Momma!)

This will be an "on sale" or "on the 60% list" purchase, but SO cute!

(A&F)
(Express... it's SO comfortable!!)

The night capped off with a group of us spending an evening at The Pollard Theatre to see a couple friends in "Rent." It was such a great show! I'm pretty sure I fell in love with Lyonel every time he sang :) He's a younger version of Taye Diggs.

Once I got back to campus I decided to tackle some domestic tasks... I started my laundry and decided that it was time to dust my room (don't judge, but it was the first time this semester... the dust bunnies were having a sock-hop on my dresser) and clean my bathroom (NOT the first time of the semester, LOL). I did DEEP cleaning and I switched my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter.

It's now 3:30 am on Sunday and I'm finally off to bed! Good night/Good morning! The phone will be on vibrate and the blinds are closed... hopefully a solid night's sleep will follow!

Something to think about...

I was walking through the halls and someone had the following question posted on the white board on their door, "What do you like about October?" Something to think about.

Here's my list:
The weather gets cool
The leaves change colors
I feel like it's incredibly appropriate to wear brown, green, and orange.
Pumpkin products are available (muffins, cupcakes, flavored coffees)
You get to carve pumpkins!
There is a holiday devoted to getting candy!
Fall Break is in October, so I get to go home :)
It's the only month that starts with an "O." Haha
My parents got married in October! Woot woot! 23 years!

Well, I think that's all for me. What would be on your October list?

Happy Friday! xoxo, E

maybe, maybe... HOPEFULLY!!!

Well, my friend Marcus announced on his Facebook today that he will be going to the Billy Joel/Elton John concert in OKC the day before Thanksgiving. I am SO jealous!! I have a major crush on Billy Joel (well, his music) and am DYING to see him in concert. As I was sulking today, I got online just to see if there was any chance another city on the tour might be within easy flying-distance. To my utter-GLEE, I saw the following:

The rumors are true. Beginning in March, Billy Joel and Elton John, will reunite for their Face 2 Face tour and continue the most successful and longest-running concert pairing in pop history.

"I love touring with Billy. I have the greatest respect for him and we're such good friends," Elton said. And "the great thing about performing with Elton is that he is such a good piano player and that makes me have to dig deep to keep up with him, not to mention I've got the best seat in the house-only one piano away from Elton John!" said Billy.

I am praying, praying, PRAYING that a new city will be nearby. Heck, I'll drive to see Billy!!! And I loathe driving! Maybe tickets can be a birthday present Momma and Papas??

Wishing, hoping, thinking, and praying!!! xoxo, E

(no title)

I sat here for quite a while this morning and thought "what in the world do I title this post?" and then... "how should I even start this post?"

Well first, the positive... I had a GREAT weekend at home. Like AH-mazing. After landing on Saturday, the parents and I went to Manzetti's and had lunch. The Texas/OU game was on, and I actually paid attention and knew what was going on! Woo hoo! After, we went to Southpark and did some shopping (love!)... followed by a manicure and pedicure. Man, I love being home! It's so relaxing.

I slept for 13 hours Saturday night... WHAT?! It definitely made up for the 2 hours I got Friday night. And then we headed Uptown to see Nic and Sean in "Beauty and the Beast" at Imaginon. I love my friends! They are SO talented!!

Monday was a pretty chill day with some more shopping (love going to Luna!) and errands. I got to spend some time with Sean since it was their day off from the show. He has so many amazing opportunities coming up! So proud!

Yesterday was the dreaded day of returning to OKC. I'm a senior in college, but the tears always start flowing on travel day. The "funk" has been hard to get out of this time though. I was real teary last night and woke up feeling pretty blue this morning. Thank goodness it's only a three day week. That should help!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! xoxo, E

Are you kidding?

Electricity... it's a wonderful thing.
It's something we take for granted until it is taken away.

The residents of our building got an email a couple days ago that read, "Attention, the electricity will be out Friday from 9-5. Please plan accordingly." I'm sorry... Are you kidding?! Not only is today the last day of school before Fall Break (could this not wait until then?), but tonight is the night of the two Choreography Shows. I'm not sure if you know this, but electricity is VITAL to last minute midterm studying, preparations to go home, and getting ready for a show (curling irons anyone?)

Well, last night I stayed up pretty late doing my laundry so that it wouldn't sit undone until Wednesday of next week. It didn't get folded, but hey, I can fold it in the dark... wah wah. I haven't packed yet, but I figure I can also do that in the dark. The roomie and I are having a lunch date today so that will take up some of our "no-power hour" time. And I dragged (is that right? drug?) myself out of bed this morning so that I could shower and dry my hair before the electricity takes a mini-vacation.

When it boils down to it, I go home in less than 24 hours so I could really care less about this electricity fiasco. But it makes for an interesting blog post :) Eh, maybe "interesting" is a stretch!
Happy Friday! xoxo, E

Manic Monday

It's just another Manic Monday...

Do you ever feel like you wake up and things are already off to a bad start? Things don't feel TERRIBLY bad this morning, just a little blah. It's days like today that make people talk about "hitting a brick wall," or feeling like a "house dropped on them." If I must feel like I'm drowning in something, I wouldn't mind this...

But today is going to be a crazy day...
Class
Gym
Class
1 hour to shower and eat lunch
Class
Work from 3-5
Dinner
Theatre at 6:15
Tech Rehearsal begins at 7:30
Whew, I'm tired...

But, on the bright side... I'll be home in 5 days!! Can't even wait! xoxo, E

Mission SO Accomplished...

WE DID IT!!!
Meredith and I not only finished our 5K yesterday, but we ran it in under 30 minutes!!!

It was probably one of the hardest things I've ever done, but it was so rewarding. I joke that the Jonas Brothers got me through the struggle of the race. Who can deny the power of peppy music? There was also a lot of praying. I kept repeating "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And you know what? I DID IT!!!!

And now a picture narrative of the day :)
We're ready to go!!

"Super Mere" does her stretches
What a relief! The EMT was there in case we pass out!
(but we didn't need them!!)
The Chick-Fil-A Cow came out to support the Swazi5K!
Our Swazi5K buttons on our shoes. They are some kind of official timekeeping apparatus. I just called it an accessory to our shoe!
The start/finish line!
Moments before the race began!
OMG! We survived!!

The official times!
And in a bizarre turn of events, I actually placed third in our age bracket for my time! Who'd have thought! Woo hoo for a 5K in 27:43!!!

Well, now it's the morning after and I had NO idea it was possible to be this sore. Oh brother. But it was TOTALLY worth it!!
I'm so proud of us!!

Now off to church!! Happy 23rd Anniversary Momma and Papas!!
xoxo, E
