a LOVEly giveaway

We should not only talk about love on Valentine's Day or throw it out at the end of a phone call ("love ya").
My mom sent me an email with the following descriptions of what LOVE is from the perspective of children...

'When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.

You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.'

'Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still

friends even after they know each other so well.'

'Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it

everyday.'

'Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is

handsomer than Robert Redford.'

So here's the giveaway portion... I have a lovely surprise to send the winner.
And here are the rules:
1. Leave a comment and tell me what love means to you: an action, a gift, a meal, a trip, a note, a smile, etc.
2. Leave an additional comment if you are a follower
3. Leave another comment if you blog/facebook/twitter about the giveaway.
That's three chances to enter folks!! Good luck!! -E

p.s. I'll be in Memphis all weekend so a winner will be chosen Monday morning! Be sure you enter by 6pm Sunday night!!

The end of it all...

My whirlwind of a summer is coming to an end...
at least, the LA chapter.
Yesterday was my last day at HOBY and it was a perfect last day. We celebrated all of our hard work by going out to lunch and picking up some party items at the party store. One of the guys that worked in the store responded to our uncontrollable laughter by saying, "You girls are having way to much fun!" This party store wasn't your typical PARTY CITY (not sure if that is a nationwide store, but it's our Go To party store at home). It was a little sketchy. There was SO much Halloween stuff and then there were random things too... Like a turkey hat. I wanted to take a picture, but this guy will have to do!

It was tough to say goodbye to Solange. She has become more than my summer boss; she is my friend. After this post, she told me how much she loved Kate's flapperdoodle print (duh! who doesn't?!) and the tiffany blue frame. So of course, I ordered another print from Kate and made her a frame to match. She got so excited, "This is the one I loved!! And the tiffany blue frame! OMG I have goosebumps!" I'd say it was a hit :) She sent me this pic of it hanging in their home.

Today is my last day at 3Ball. I have a little surprise cooked up for the gang, so I'm excited to get there and thank them for such an amazing opportunity this summer!

Steph and the kiddos got back last night, and I was SO excited to see them!! As we drove away from the airport we started talking about what we were going to do today (since it's my last full day with them) and they all said they wanted to go to Disneyland! I'm not sure if that's going to be possible today, but I do know that I am going to miss them SO much. My sweet Caroline made my night last night... As we hopped out of the car to grab dinner she says, "Aunt Liz!! You got tan!" Ahh, that is the magic phrase to a fair skinned girl!

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! Mine will be filled with a lot of fun and just as much packing! -E

List making...

I love lists... like an unhealthy amount... It turned out to be a "good thing" when my computer crashed Freshman year (I didn't lose any of my files/music/photos... thank the Lord) because when I got my computer back, they put the "Stickies" application on my MAC. They are literally sticky notes for your desktop... HEAVEN!

And I have so many notepads to make my lists on... sticky notes GALORE, "A Moment in the Life of Elizabeth" notepads, "A Day in the Life of Elizabeth" notepads, "A Week in the Life of Elizabeth" notepads, "Off Again. Time to Pack" notepads, the list goes on and on.

I even use legal pads to make my "major projects" lists. Currently, my legal pad has 13-days worth of clothes planned out. How else am I supposed to know what to pack for my trip on Thursday?? Last time I packed, it was a rush job, and I packed for our 2 week trip to Italy in under 15 minutes... no lie. I also overpacked (understatement) and went over the weight limit for my flight. A lack of planning results in having to carry some of that weight on board. No bueno.

I tried to find a pic of the "Off Again... Time to Pack" notepad that Papas got for me (he is an organizer personality like myself, so he indulges my habit) and I found this adorable notepad. I think I need to get this one for Momma and me. She is NOTORIOUS for doodling on the back of a piece of paper while on the phone and then throwing it out... usually, there was something important on the other side!!

What is it with lists and stationary?! I just LOVE it!!
I also have more journals/notebooks than anyone you have ever met... but that's a different obsession for another time.
Have a terrific Tuesday!! -E

Mundane Monday...

It's already been a weird start to the day. I woke up at 7am (an hour early) and thought it was Sunday. Imagine my surprise to see the alert on my computer to go to work at 10am. Hmmm... Needing a little bit of motivation for my Monday. It's gloomy outside (SO unusual for LA), but these fashions are helping!

Only 3 more days and I'm on a jet plane to head EAST!!! Wahoo!!! -E

Pay it forward... A gift for you

Today I walked to the mailbox and found a delightful package from Annemarie at Brunch at Saks.
This hot pink journal is going to be perfect for my workshops in Memphis next weekend!! Thanks girl!!
She published this post 2 weeks ago, and now it's my turn to "pay it forward"
Here's how to play:
1) I have a small surprise ready to send out to the first 3 people who comment (please put your email in the comment if you don't have it posted on your blog)
2) You must be willing to play along when you get your gift and host a Pay It Forward on your blog. Everyone loves to receive mail!! The gifts can be handmade or store bought- it is the thought that counts!

What a start to my weekend: this is worth the read

I do not consider myself a fearful person, but I do acknowledge that I have some irrational fears in my life.

I've had a fear that my ceiling fan in my room at school (because I don't have one in my room at home in NC) might come crashing down on me in my sleep. Before tonight (It's 1:13AM right now), I would have placed this fear in the irrational category... but no longer.

BANG! CRASH!! I woke up and reached to turn on the overhead light... nothing. Wait a second. I crawled to the end of the bed and opened my bedroom door (at my brother's house in LA). The hallway light came on, and there stood my bro. We both turned to look at the floor in my room, and there it was... the ceiling fan that kept me cool for so many nights now resided on the floor surrounded by broken glass.

I must admit, I remained very calm. Billy moved the fan and reminded me not to touch the live wires, and I vacuumed up the pieces with the Dirt Devil. After setting up a portable fan in my room, I crawled back into bed. It wasn't until this moment that I realized I was a bit shaken by the incident. So here I sit, blogging about my irrational, now rational, fear of a falling ceiling fan.

I hope you had a restful night. It's yet to be determined how mine will be. -E

Hollywood Icons

It's no secret that I am obsessed with Kate's flapperdoodle illustrations.
So it should come as no shock that I am featuring them on my blog AGAIN.
She is working on a new series of famous scenes from movies...
can you guess which classic movies these are from?
(don't worry, I'll give you the answers)
Audrey Hepburn
In Funny Face

Audrey Hepburn
In Sabrina

Marilyn Monroe
In The Seven Year Itch

Marilyn Monroe
In Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
And Kate is taking suggestions for more movie fashions! Hop on over to her blog if you have any! Also, head over to Etsy and vote for Kate's shop as "Best Fresh Shop with the Most Promise." Last time I checked, she was in the lead by 4 votes, but she still needs our help!! She even designed this illustration for the Etsy contest :)

I hope these have put a smile on your face like they do mine every time I look at them. I think I check her blog for updated illustrations more than I check my Facebook, LOL!
Get Excited! It's almost Friday!! -E

I couldn't resist...

So I'm working on finding a host for a new docu-reality style show that will film here in LA in 2 weeks. It's about first-time dads who have no clue what they are going to do when baby arrives. This website came along at the perfect time... I became frustrated when my google search was not yielding any results that I could use... and this made me laugh out loud... ENJOY!!

I hope you learned alot... I sure have :)

New obsession... HGTV

I was home sick from work yesterday (stupid migraine) and there was nothing on TV at 9am. I happened upon a show on HGTV, and I am now officially hooked. My favorite shows (at least so far) are: House Hunters and My First Place. I have the DVR set to record: Carter Can (this is Carter Oosterhouse, the cutie carpenter from Trading Spaces) and HGTV Design Star (a competition)
I looked at the website today for HGTV and found these two designs... L-O-V-E

I love the bookshelves with the art display in the middle

And this has got to be the coolest craft workshop EVER!!
again... L-O-V-E!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!! -E

Time flies when you're having fun...

"Time flies when you're having fun."
Have you ever thought about that phrase? Why can't it fly when you're bored out of your mind and move slowly when you're having fun so that you can enjoy the time? It's so backwards...
I was sitting here and thought about what I've done this summer and what's to come in the last 4 weeks of the break.

What I've done:
Drove from OKC to LA (19 hours)
Spent 10 days in Italy (I want to go back!)
Enjoyed 3 weekends of visitors (Papas, Momma, and Mere)
Worked two internships
Spent a weekend in Vegas
Saw my first Cirque show
Went to California Adventure (and finally rode the Tower of Terror)

What's to come:
6 more days at the internships
3 days in Memphis at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to prep for the fundraiser we are having on campus in November.
4 days at home with...
5 doctors visits for "hurry and get in before you go back to school" appointments (dermatologist, eye doctor, gen doctor, orthodontist for retainer check, and dentist... whew)
3 days in NYC (with some shopping!!)
2 days at home
Fly to LA
Drive from LA to OKC (19 hours... again)
Back to college for senior year!! wahhhh!!!!

Has your summer been crazy busy or luxuriously lazy? -E

Sad Sunday

Well, it's been a great weekend with the bestie.
We went to the beach today

and now she's on a flight back to Texas :( So sad.
I hope your weekend was an enjoyable one!! -E

90210

As you might have guessed by the title of this post, Mere and I went to Hollywood today and took an open bus tour of the celebrity homes (including Beverly Hills... 90210)

We had a little bit of time before our tour, so we walked along Hollywood Blvd. I found Marlo Thomas' star!! (This is my tribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital)

Mere in front of our bus :)

Harry Potter Crew!! Look how cute Emma's shoes look!

Eleanor Powell (with her tap shoes!)
Little Shirley Temple!!
Hugh Jackman... Momma, that's for you!

Frank Sinatra!! We have the same size feet!!
And last, but CERTAINLY not least... my boyfriend, Cary Grant!!

As materialistic as it sounds... I want to be rich and live in Beverly Hills... preferably on a street with palm trees. P.s. We learned that each street is assigned a certain tree to line the road. OMG, beautiful.
Hope your weekend has been great!! -E

Weekend with the Bestie: Day 1

Today was Day 1 of my weekend with the Bestie! We started the day with a bagel at Noah's and the new Harry Potter movie

then boogied on over to In-N-Out... Mere had never been before.

We then jetted to the mall for a bit. Okay, story time, hopefully you will find it funny as well. I am driving a loaner car while Betty is at the doctor (...again...) and the car is a bit of a mess. Someone did not take care of it as if it was their own. Bad news bears. We had to name the poor guy because, well, he just deserved a name. For some reason, Bruno came to mind. Then as we were searching for a parking place, we saw this license plate.

An exact twin to the car I'm driving is crushing on Bruno.
After some quality time at the mall, we drove to Anaheim to go to California Adventure. We were pretty excited to be there... clearly :)

We went hang gliding... virtually of course

 Rode California Screamin'

and the Tower of Terror!!!!

We also took a pic to show we survived. Mere looks cute; I look a bit frazzled.

Spending the day in Hollywood and Beverly Hills tomorrow :) -E
