What a start to my weekend: this is worth the read

I do not consider myself a fearful person, but I do acknowledge that I have some irrational fears in my life.

I've had a fear that my ceiling fan in my room at school (because I don't have one in my room at home in NC) might come crashing down on me in my sleep. Before tonight (It's 1:13AM right now), I would have placed this fear in the irrational category... but no longer.

BANG! CRASH!! I woke up and reached to turn on the overhead light... nothing. Wait a second. I crawled to the end of the bed and opened my bedroom door (at my brother's house in LA). The hallway light came on, and there stood my bro. We both turned to look at the floor in my room, and there it was... the ceiling fan that kept me cool for so many nights now resided on the floor surrounded by broken glass.

I must admit, I remained very calm. Billy moved the fan and reminded me not to touch the live wires, and I vacuumed up the pieces with the Dirt Devil. After setting up a portable fan in my room, I crawled back into bed. It wasn't until this moment that I realized I was a bit shaken by the incident. So here I sit, blogging about my irrational, now rational, fear of a falling ceiling fan.

I hope you had a restful night. It's yet to be determined how mine will be. -E
