I have heard people say time and time again how much they love Boston. Well guess what folks, Bean town is worth all the hype. I'm in love!
This is the Custom House (Boston's version of Ellis Island) and the location of our hotel =) Such a great location, and easy to spot when trying to navigate our way home.

We took a trolley tour throughout the city. It was such a great way to see the sights and hear the history.
This balcony is where the Declaration of Independence was first read aloud.

Beacon Hill is absolutely gorgeous. Such a great location near Boston Common, Charles Street, and Newbury (which just happens to be the location of our new favorite spot to get a yummy salad and caramelized apple bread pudding, Stephanies on Newbury - thanks for that suggestion rooms!)
Savenor's is a speciality food market. Julia Child shopped here! They have crazy products like lion meat (which I would totally eat... Mommacita, not so much).
We all crossed the finish line for the Boston Marathon. Man that was easy =) Maybe I can cross it for real one day!
A tour of Boston wouldn't be complete without hitting up Fenway Park. I was so bummed that the Red Sox weren't in town while we were there. Oh well, next time.
We took a cruise on Boston Harbor and it was beautiful!
So, the Scooper Bowl is what initially got the plans for the Boston trip started. What a fun time! $8 bought you a spoon and admission into the event outside City Hall, sponsored by Fed Ex, to benefit the Jimmy Fund for cancer research. The idea is simple enough: Eight ice cream vendors brought 4 flavors of ice cream each for participants to consume... all they could eat. If you do the math, that's 32 flavors of ice cream. And you aren't limited to one scoop of each. I think Mommacita had 7 scoops and I had 8 (eek!). We determined that our favorites were the sherbets and this yummy blueberry frozen yogurt flavor.
We walked past the filming of "What's Your Number" a few times while in Boston. I'm not sure who's in the movie or what it's about, but we passed a lot of trailers, equipment, and catering trucks for the set.
Only six more months until I can pack up and move to Boston... well, six months and landing a job... technicality...

As your official editor over the last 16 years, it is nice to see that you still need me. Given the fact that you are going to move to Boston, you should be aware that it is Boston Common not Commons. I am afraid my little girl would get thrown out of town for that one.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you and Mommacita had such a wonderful time. I was just happy that you took me to a new restaurant in Charlotte upon your return. Poor, poor, pitiful me. Oh, yeah, that's right, I am writing this from Europe so don't feel too bad that for me that I was not able to go. LOL
ROOMS!! I went to the scooper bowl too yummmm. I think you were actually there the same week I was there last year..so funny! I'm glad you like Stephanies and my birth city :)
